Organic Certification

In order to convert to organic production you will need to plan carefully. The process need not be onerus and we will endeavour to take any applicant through the certification process as efficiently as possible with the minimum of fuss. However, some may need to make more changes than others and re-appraise their approach and methods.

Before you begin the conversion from the conversion from conventional to organic production, you will need to obtain advice from a nuumber of readily available sources. The first port of call can be Organic Centre Wales (OCW). It is a free service that can be contacted on 01970 622100. Farming Connect can also provide further help and their services include free business and technical advice, training and access to discussion groups.

Finally in order to be recognised as an organic farmer and market your produce as organic, you will need to register with an officially recognised certification body like Quality Welsh Food Certification Ltd. Anyone selling produce as organic that has not had the seal of approval from QWFC or another certification body is breaking the law and could be liable for prosecution.
